![]() Topic: Steam and Patch 1.1 IssuesPosted: 26 Jul 2007 at 07:02 |
|
I know this has been addressed to an extent in another forum but I felt it deserved a seperate post for us steam users who are having issues installing the new patch.
Could anyone post here here and how to install the new patch for steam account users?
I thought I read that some users were able to get it installed.
Edit:
Okay I figured it out
I created a seperate folder called spaceforce on my harddrive and pointed the installer there.
It unzipped the files there and then I moved those files into the
program files/steam/SteamApps/Common/space force rogue universe/
folder
For some reason, and maybe it was error on my part, the installer was not installing the files correctly when I pointed it to steam.
Either way it's working now and hopefully this will help someone else

sorry I didnt answer your pm sooner but it looks like you have it figured out! Ive been so busy with work I havent even had time to play 1.1 now that my joystick works :( I had the same problem, If I pointed the installer to steam it wouldnt copy the files correctly, so I just made a new folder to put them in, then copied and pasted like you did.

Steam games should usually be patched through steam, i wounder why this isnt then? As most games have 1 patch for retail and 1 patch for direct 2 drive type games like steam system.

You can apply regular patch over steam version of the game. Just set correct folder of the game in install program of the patch.

thx for the reply. unfortunately the installer does not copy the files if you select the folder within the steam structure for installation. if you create a new directory to install and manually copy the files its working. after this process its actually also possible to simply move the files out of the steam folder and have the game running independent. like this you can also prevent steam to mess around with the new files. hopefully the next patch will be easier to install.
