For those that still have joystick issues after installing the v1.1 patch, please post them here.

As before:

- Post the brand/model of your joystick.

- Post exactly what the problem is.

Please do not post in this thread if you are still using v1.0 of the game.

Note:

There are new options in the Config.cfg file which enable the new joystick funtions for roll and thrust controls, as well as the deadzone. The file can be found in the System folder. The defaults are:

UseJoystickThruster: 0
UseJoystickRoll: 0
JoystickDeadZone: 1000.0

Change the first two from 0 to 1 to enable them. Deadzone will require a little experimentation to match your own preference.

Hi,

Version of game 1.1
Joystick: Saitek Caiborg Evo Force
No joystick throttle.
No joystick rudder/roll but fixed by editing config.cfg file so that's fine.
Throttle is now workable via the keyboard up/down buttons.
Space bar does kill engines now.

Have you made sure the following is in your Config.cfg?

Hmm, when I do this above Goffik, my joystick throttle works.  Guess all's well at this end.

Well I've found the config. file that has the joystick settings and changed it from 0 to 1... This didn't work and I still don't have the throttle working .. I guess this game is going on the shelf as unplayable until a fix is released...

Could you post the brand/model of the controllers you are using please? It will be informative for others and may help the Devs find the problem.

Everything works perfect on my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, especially with these tweaks you've posted Goffik didn't even had to change the deadzone one. Thumbs%20Up
Just too bad that I can't use the hat to look around.

Hello all.

I have the Thrustmaster Cougar HOTAS sticks.
With ver 1.0 everything worked fine with the  throttle.
With ver 1.1 the throttle quit working. I have gone into
the config file and turned the setting to 1, and still I get no
Throttle.

Don't know what exactly the big difference is in the versions
but there has to be a simple solution to this. Hope someone
can help. I love this game.  The mouse scroll button brings up the
thrust as well as the arrow up and down keys.

I have the keyboard/joystick setting picked in the options.

Just to reiterate Goffiks post for those still having joystick control options, make sure you edit the config.cfg and change both the values roll and thruster (listed in the config.cfg as truster IIRC) from 0 to 1 and save the edited config.cfg.

I have tried this with 3 different joystick; microsoft sidewinder, Logitech Force 3d and a Saitek Evo and it works fine.  Not claiming it will work for everyone, just I did things wrong a few times and initially blamed the game, so maybe worth checking.

On to my question,

Has anybody experimented with the deadzone values?
I have a little constant roll to the right all the time and I have tried puting the values up and down with no effect so far.

No biggie, it just annoys me.

Mitch.

Logitech Extreme 3D Pro

POV Hat - Up does not work, all other directions are fine.

Twist - Works... sort of. Deadzone value in Config.cfg does not appear to have any affect on the twist axis, so I'm always rolling to the left. Unable to correct using the joysticks own software, so I cant use it at all.

Throttle - No problems... it works fine.

Deadzone - I had to set it to 5000 just to get my ship levelled out. Up, down and right now require a movement of a quarter of the joysticks range to 'activate', while left only requires that you blow on it.

I was also only able to set joystick controls from within the game. The launchers options menu would not accept any joystick input. I cant remember if it was like that pre-patch...

Back to the mouse for me I guess... Disapprove

I'm not sure what he did, but it's NOT working for me. I have updated drivers and I DID edit the config file.

POV Hat-only DOWN works for me and the twist and throttle, still not working after editting the config file twice.

I'm on steam, just curious if that might have an effect, it shouldn't, but who knows.

Version of game 1.1
Joystick: Saitek X52 Flight Controller
joystick throttle do not work game use the "Precision Slide" for throttle (not very usefull)

No joystick rudder/roll but fixed by editing config.cfg file so that's fine.
Cannot Assign Joystick Buttons in the options menu.
If Joystick/Keyboard is aktivated and i
want to asign one action the field always shows "Joystick button 26 "

UPDATE:
Button 24,25 and 26 on the X52 is the "Mode Switch"
Game detected it as Button klick so I'm unable to asign any joystick buttons.

You've got the hat to work Goffik, well except for the upper one?
Do you think that I can alter a setting for that so maybe I can at least use the ones to look sideways?

To be honest, I'm not sure whats going on with the hat. The only settings I changed were for twist, throttle and deadzone. Seeing as Syscrash has exactly the same joystick, I dont know why it works more for me than it does for him. Note that I always use the Logitech Gaming Software, but I dont know if that has anything to do with it (yet). I'll have another crack at it and see if I can figure anything out.

Did you get the POV hat to work madpfoff?

You have the same stick as me so just wondered.  Mine isn't working but no hardship.  Just don't want you having something I don't lol.

I have both a ms force feedback 2 and a Logitch extreme 3d pro joystick.  The thruster and roll did not work before the patch. The still do not work after the patch.  I have changed the config file from 0 to 1 on  usejoystickthruster and  usejoystickroll.  I am running ver. 1.1.0.0.  What am I doing wrong or missing?

Update,  removed the game , reinstalled patched and changed the config file. Started a new game,  changed the controls to joystick and keyboard.  No thruster or roll.  I could map these to buttons on the joystick.  The logitech profiler on or off no difference.  This was with a the logitech 3d pro.I will try the ms ff 2 later.

Update 2,  MS FF 2 no thrust or roll on joystick.  I can map buttons.

Spud

Dunno what could be up there spud.  Others seem to be getting the Extreme 3D to work.

To state the obvious, you are enabling keyboard/mouse in the in game options?  Sometimes we miss the simplest things.

I'm glad most of you are having better luck. I'm still having problems with my Cougar HOTAS throttle to work. Like I said before it worked in version 1.0 and now doesn't with 1.1.

Tried just about everything except having to program the throttle for the up and down arrow keys. I've never had to do that before. This game had
me hooked and I was really enjoying it up until now. If anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated. I do not want to put this game on the shelf after playing for so many hours.

I have a MS Sidewinder Precision 2, and have several functions linked to the hat switch (throttle up on hat up, throttle down on hat down, and 2 ship lock functions on left and right), the only switch which actually executes the mapped functions is hat down (throttle down).  I don't have joystick throttle enabled (I use the mouse wheel on my Nostromo N52), but the other joystick options...I do.  Everything else works wonderful (THANK YOU FOR THE FIX!), except for those problems.

Could it be because I have this joystick selected as the legacy device on my computer (the one you select for old games in the XP game controller control panel under the advanced button)?
