Welcome aboard Whisper928 and enjoy your stay Smile

Btw guys. In the meantime I gave up on Freespace 2.
Must have been a great game back in those days but I guess I'm too spoiled in the meanwhile Confused

Not sure but it might be the latest FS2 with Source Code Project, which improves graphics.

After that beam up 2 updates to it:

Thx, will give this one a try then.
The first update only gives me a link to a page where I can see "Download the file" but I can't click on it and there's no other link on the page that allowes me to download it.
What should I do?

Not on the list, so this poll is quite useless....

ELITE by David Braben!

Why? mother of all space sims, 100's of hours of fun, inspiration for spacegames for the last 25 years, openended universe.....

(and yes, i know it's hopelessly dated by now, but still, it's ELITE ;))

p.s. voted freelancer, but that game su*** too, because it's too easy....  (played it when it just got out, but had too much money in about 3 days, and a fully stocked rhino, and titan with full "special" gear..... then i lost interest... maybe it's gotten better since then, but i never bothered to look back)

Sadly I have only ever played Freelancer out of all those games. I got hooked on the demo a while back when I was about 10 and then I couldn't afford it. Then one day a few months back I saw an old copy sitting on the shelf at the Warehouse (A New Zealand shop that sells just about everything.) for only ten dollars and bought it immediately. I have never seen any of those other games anywhere.  :(

No it is an RTS along the lines of Empires at War, But (Homeworld 2) much better IMO.

X series games like X-2 The Threat and X-3 Reunion I think if you just type in X-2 or X-3 you get a good list to start from.

P.S. I have a copy of X-2 if anyone wants it cheap P.M. me

Freelancer, "TAX!!!". I play Evolutions 2.29. I've tried X2 and X3 demos and they just don't cut it, but X3 looks nice.

Starlancer is also good if you like a nice flight sim/shooter: Launch from carrier, jump to destination, blow up bad guys. Good guy changes to dark side but you think he's dead. You find out he's alive and kill him. Blow up an Ion cannon. Go home and drink tea.

Great fun. :D

I'm definately an X-series fanatic here and i can prove it too.... !

In the past i've changed games like ppl change socks...

I bought X3 Reunion in December '05, I haven't played another game since!

From December untill now i've helped open a fansite / resourcesite for the X-series on which i'm the Administrator. On the official egosoft forum, i'm a lvl 5 user and betatester.

So i'm pretty hooked... let's see if this game can lighten my grasp around the X-verse a bit :)

Sure, i'll be happy to assist :)

My biggest fleet today consisted of:

4 destroyers
1 carrier
2 semi carriers (M7 via a mod)
~100 heavy fighters
~100 Medium fighters
2 light fighters (for exploration)

~230 factories, a lot of them combined into complexes but also many separate

Credits to spend ~500 mill.

In-game playing time to get there ~30 days...

It's not very difficult when you get the hang of it.

I'd like to invite you to join me at X Development Center (click the signature image) and we can talk there, i'm there 8-10 hours a day (1 hour in weekends).
